Now that the election is over, our volunteer opportunities are on pause. We’ll be reassessing and refinig our offerings for 2025. In the meantime, here’s why we recommend that you volunteer with us.
It’s a great antidote to your anxiety and/or outlet for your enthusiasm.
You can join us from anywhere in the country. Many of these opportunities allow you to work at home.
We “curate” our list. We direct you to opportunities that will maximize your impact. All are in our battleground states. You can turn out the vote, protect the vote, register voters, or campaign for candidates in close but winnable races.
We vet every opportunity to make sure it will be well-run and effective. We partner with organizations with good track records that we know and respect.
We offer a wide variety of options for all skill sets and levels of experience.

“More people doing more to protect democracy” has been our motto since we started in 2017. It’s how we win!
Writing
Studies show that handwritten letters and cards make a measurable difference in motivating people to get out to vote.
We partner with Vote Forward to get templates and addresses of left-leaning voters who vote infrequently.
We hold group Write-A-Thon sessions every month to add fellowship and fun. There’s always a Zoom option if you don’t live in the DC area. You can also write on your own (https://votefwd.org/nope) or host your own writing party (get our guide here.)
We’re committed to write to 10,000 voters – as of August 1, we are halfway there. Help us meet our goal!
Canvassing
Get ready to pound the pavement and knock on doors. We’re focusing on the battleground state of Pennsylvania because of its proximity to DC.
We focus on candidates in winnable races who can flip seats from red to blue.
We campaign for candidates up and down the ballot, including candidates for state legislatures. Experience shows that votes for local candidates bring out up-ballot votes.
We’ll be going out almost every weekend between now and November 5.
New to canvassing? We can help. We offer occasional training sessions and we pair newbies with experienced canvassers.
Registering and Protecting the Vote
Voter registration is vital because we need every possible Democratic vote. Voter protection is essential because we need every vote to count.
We find opportunites for you to work at home and to go out in the field. Some examples:
We partnered with Red2Blue to call call PA Democrats to fix issues with registrations or mail-in ballots that surfaced during the primaries.
We joined a two-day, door-to-door voter registration drive in Philly on July 27-28.
We can also help you get started with VoPro Pros, the “gold standard” of volunteer organizations for voter protection.
FIGHTING DISINFORMATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA
MAGA dominates on social media. But NOPE pushes back.
We post new content every week on our accounts on Facebook, X and Twitter.
Join our team by liking, sharing, and commenting. We’re available for questions and coaching.
It’s insanely convenient: you can join the fight wherever you access the internet.
phone banking
Here’s another activity that allows you make an impact from your own home.
Most of our phone bank opportunties focus on turning out the Democratic vote. Studies show that personal, high-quality phone calls increase voter turnout.
We also offer phone banks that help protect the vote. (Example: helping voters cure ballot defects).
As the campaign season heats up, we will also direct you to phone banks supporting candidates in key races.
We would never send you out without support! The phone banks we select offer training and polished scripts. Experienced mentors are available during shifts, and many phone banks feature fun Zoom rooms.
Why I Volunteer With NOPE
Like many people my age, I felt disaffected by our political situation and worried about the upcoming election. It’s been wonderful to work with people who give up their time to try and whittle away at the problems that my generation faces. - Jared Richie
The more I engaged, the more I came to see that the folks in NOPE were well organized and highly professional. When I attended my first election debrief, I came to appreciate how strategic and effective this group was. - Karen Metchis
NOPE is a wise steward of my energy and resources. NOPE is also a great group of fun, intelligent, convivial people to spend time with. Working with NOPE lets me do good, with the knowledge that my efforts can really make a difference! - Diane Kupelian
I’m a NOPE volunteer because I’m grateful for the opportunities that American democracy has given me and my family. We’re a friendly community that matches volunteer skills with a wide range of tasks. NOPE welcomes everyone’s talents! - Connie Stephens
